सीतावियोगे रामविलापः (Rāma’s Lament in Separation from Sītā)
परिहासेन किं सीते परिश्रान्तस्य मे प्रिये।अयं स परिहासोऽपि साधु देवि न रोचते।।3.62.6।।
suvyaktaṃ rākṣasaiḥ sītā bhakṣitā vā hṛtā 'pi vā || 3.62.8 || na hi sā vilapantaṃ mām upasampraiti lakṣmaṇa |
Lakṣmaṇa, it is all too clear—Sītā has either been devoured by rākṣasas or abducted; for as I lament, she does not come to me.
O my dear Sita, why are you joking when I am exhausted? Such fun cannot be relished now.
Dharma as responsibility to protect: Rāma confronts the possibility of grave harm to Sītā, implying the urgent duty to act decisively against wrongdoing.
Rāma concludes Sītā is not merely hiding; he suspects rākṣasas have harmed or abducted her and speaks to Lakṣmaṇa.
Urgency and truth-facing resolve—Rāma moves from denial to a realistic assessment to guide action.
