Shloka 3.24.2

उत्पातदर्शनं खरसैन्यसमागमश्च (Omens of calamity and the approach of Khara’s army)

तानुत्पातान्महोघोरानुत्थितान्रोमहर्षणान्।प्रजानामहितान्दृष्ट्वा रामो लक्ष्मणमब्रवीत्।।।।

tān utpātān mahā-ghorān utthitān roma-harṣaṇān | prajānām ahitān dṛṣṭvā rāmo lakṣmaṇam abravīt ||

Seeing those most dreadful portents arise—terrifying, hair-raising, and harmful to living beings—Rāma spoke to Lakṣmaṇa.

When Rama saw the most dreadful, horripilating phenomena foreboding calamity, he said to Lakshmana:

R
Rama
L
Lakshmana
P
portents (utpāta)

Dharma includes alertness to signs of harm and taking timely protective counsel—responsible leaders respond to forewarning rather than ignore it.

Ominous phenomena appear in the forest; Rama, recognizing danger, begins instructing Lakshmana.

Vigilance and discernment—Rama reads the situation and initiates protective action.
