Shloka 3.24.11
उत्पातदर्शनं खरसैन्यसमागमश्च (Omens of calamity and the approach of Khara’s army)
अनागतविधानं तु कर्तव्यं शुभमिच्छता।आपदं शङ्कमानेन पुरुषेण विपश्चिता।।।।
sā bhīmavegā samarābhikāmā mahābalā rākṣasa-vīra-senā | tau rājaputrau sahasābhyupetā mālā grahāṇām iva candra-sūryau ||
That mighty host of heroic rākṣasas—swift in onset and eager for battle—suddenly closed in upon the two princes, like a garland of heavenly bodies encircling the sun and the moon.
A wise man who apprehends danger or one who desires his own good should plan his defence even before the onset of danger.
Dharma can require standing firm when surrounded by adharma. The princes become the stable center (like sun and moon) against chaotic aggression.
The rākṣasa forces suddenly surround Rāma and Lakṣmaṇa, setting the stage for the ensuing confrontation.
Steadfast valor with restraint (maryādā): courage that holds its ground without losing righteous discipline.
