Matsya Purana — Tripura’s Prosperity
हासश्च वरनारीणां चित्तव्याकुलकारकः त्रिपुरे दानवेन्द्राणां रमतां श्रूयते सदा //
hāsaśca varanārīṇāṃ cittavyākulakārakaḥ tripure dānavendrāṇāṃ ramatāṃ śrūyate sadā //
The laughter of exquisite women—stirring and unsettling the mind—is ever heard in Tripura, as the lordly Dānavas sport and revel.
This verse does not speak about Pralaya; it depicts the ongoing worldly pleasures in Tripura—an asuric stronghold—setting narrative contrast before its eventual destruction.
By highlighting “mind-agitating” sensual allure, it implicitly warns that unchecked indulgence distracts from dharma; a king or householder should regulate sense-pleasures to preserve clarity, discipline, and righteous conduct.
No direct Vāstu or ritual rule is stated; however, the verse contributes to the larger Tripura theme—an extraordinary constructed city—often discussed in Puranas as a backdrop for ritualized divine action (Tripura-dahana).
