Matsya Purana — The Syamantaka Jewel Episode and the Vrishni–Sainya Genealogies
वृष्टिनेमिः सुधर्मा च तथा शर्यातिरेव च अभूमिर् वर्जभूमिश्च श्रमिष्ठः श्रवणस्तथा //
vṛṣṭinemiḥ sudharmā ca tathā śaryātireva ca abhūmir varjabhūmiśca śramiṣṭhaḥ śravaṇastathā //
Vṛṣṭinemi, Sudharmā, and likewise Śaryāti; also Abhūmi and Varjabhūmi; and further Śramiṣṭha and Śravaṇa—these too are named in that lineage.
This verse does not discuss Pralaya; it functions as a genealogical enumeration, preserving names within a royal lineage—a typical Purana method for linking eras and dynasties.
Indirectly: by listing exemplary lineage figures, the Purana frames kingship as a continuity of dharma-bearing succession; the emphasis here is on dynastic memory rather than explicit rajadharma rules.
No Vastu/ritual procedure is stated in this śloka; its technical function is onomastic (name-preservation) within the Matsya Purana’s dynastic record.
