Matsya Purana — The Strategy to Defeat Tāraka: Pārvatī’s Birth
भगवन्तं ततो धन्यं पतिमाप्स्यसि संमतम् इत्युक्ता तु ततो मात्रा वस्त्रान्तपिहितानना //
bhagavantaṃ tato dhanyaṃ patimāpsyasi saṃmatam ityuktā tu tato mātrā vastrāntapihitānanā //
Then her mother said to her: “Thereafter you will obtain a blessed and noble husband, one approved and agreeable.” Having spoken thus, she covered her face with the edge of her garment.
This verse does not discuss Pralaya; it is a domestic narrative moment focused on auspicious marriage and modest conduct.
It reflects grihastha (householder) values: elders guiding marital alliances that are “saṃmata” (approved/appropriate) and emphasizing auspiciousness and decorum within family life.
No Vastu or temple-architecture rule appears here; the only cultural-ritual cue is modest veiling with the garment’s edge, indicating propriety in a familial setting.
