Matsya Purana — The Slaying of Tāraka: Skanda’s Śakti and the Victory of the Devas
कुपितं तु तमालोक्य कालनेमिपुरोगमाः सर्वे दैत्येश्वरा जघ्नुः कुमारं रणदारुणम् //
kupitaṃ tu tamālokya kālanemipurogamāḥ sarve daityeśvarā jaghnuḥ kumāraṃ raṇadāruṇam //
But seeing him enraged, all the lords of the Dānavas—led by Kālanemi—struck down the youthful warrior (Kumāra), fierce in the terrors of battle.
This verse does not describe Pralaya or cosmic dissolution; it belongs to a martial episode, emphasizing conflict among Daitya leaders and the defeat of a youthful warrior.
Indirectly, it highlights the Purāṇic theme that uncontrolled wrath and violent escalation lead to ruin—an implicit warning relevant to rulers and householders who are urged elsewhere in the Matsya Purana to govern passions and uphold dharma.
No Vāstu, temple-building, iconographic, or ritual procedure is stated in this verse; it is purely a battlefield narration.
