Matsya Purana — The Madana-Dvādaśī Vow and the Birth of the Maruts
कुर्यात्तु गुरुशुश्रूषां नित्यं माङ्गल्यतत्परा सर्वौषधीभिः कोष्णेन वारिणा स्नानमाचरेत् //
kuryāttu guruśuśrūṣāṃ nityaṃ māṅgalyatatparā sarvauṣadhībhiḥ koṣṇena vāriṇā snānamācaret //
One should always render attentive service to one’s guru, devoted continually to auspicious conduct; and one should perform bathing with lukewarm water infused with all wholesome medicinal herbs.
This verse does not address Pralaya directly; it focuses on personal discipline—guru-service and purificatory bathing—as part of sustained dharmic life.
It prescribes nitya-ācāra: serving one’s teacher/elders and maintaining bodily purity through prescribed स्नान (snāna). For kings and householders alike, such discipline supports righteous governance and orderly domestic life.
The ritual point is herbal स्नान using lukewarm water—an auspicious purification practice (śauca) often connected with daily worship, vrata preparation, and maintaining ritual eligibility.
