Matsya Purana — The Greatness of the Vibhūti-Dvādaśī Vow: Pushkara
ताभ्यां तु तदपि त्यक्तं भोक्ष्यावो वै वरानने प्रसङ्गादुपवासेन तवाद्य सुखमावयोः //
tābhyāṃ tu tadapi tyaktaṃ bhokṣyāvo vai varānane prasaṅgādupavāsena tavādya sukhamāvayoḥ //
But for those two reasons, even that was set aside. O fair-faced one, we shall indeed eat—today, by the occasion of your fasting, there will be happiness for both of us.
This verse does not discuss Pralaya or cosmology; it focuses on a personal, ethical moment involving upavāsa (fasting) and mutual wellbeing.
It reflects household dharma: decisions about food and restraint are tied to circumstance (prasaṅga) and the emotional welfare of both partners, emphasizing harmony and considerate conduct rather than rigid display.
No Vāstu/temple-building rule appears here; the only ritual-ethical element is upavāsa (fasting), presented as a meaningful observance influencing conduct and shared happiness.
