Matsya Purana — The Greatness of the Vibhūti-Dvādaśī Vow: Pushkara
निवेदयन्ती गुरवे शय्यां चोपस्करान्विताम् अलंकृत्य हृषीकेशं सौवर्णामरपादपम् //
nivedayantī gurave śayyāṃ copaskarānvitām alaṃkṛtya hṛṣīkeśaṃ sauvarṇāmarapādapam //
She presented to the guru a bed furnished with the proper accessories; and, having adorned Hṛṣīkeśa (Viṣṇu), she offered a golden wish-fulfilling kalpa-tree as a sacred gift.
This verse does not describe pralaya; it focuses instead on ritual propriety—honouring the guru and adorning Viṣṇu with valued offerings as part of prescribed religious conduct.
It models dharmic household/royal duty through guru-sevā and dāna: providing a properly furnished bed and making high-value offerings to the deity, signalling generosity, reverence, and correct ritual patronage.
Ritually, it highlights upaskara (required supporting articles) and formal presentation (nivedana) during worship; such details align with consecration/temple-service norms where furnishings and symbolic gifts (like a golden kalpa-tree) are offered to sanctify and honour the rite.
