Matsya Purana — The Birth of Tāraka: Varāṅgī’s Lament
जाते महासुरे तस्मिन् सर्वे चापि महासुराः आजग्मुर्हृषितास्तत्र तथा चासुरयोषितः //
jāte mahāsure tasmin sarve cāpi mahāsurāḥ ājagmurhṛṣitāstatra tathā cāsurayoṣitaḥ //
When that mighty Asura was born, all the great Asuras came there in delight—along with the women of the Asuras as well.
This verse does not describe Pralaya; it portrays a social/narrative moment—Asuras gathering joyfully at the birth of a powerful demon—typical of Purāṇic lineage and episode-building.
Indirectly, it illustrates how communities rally around power and lineage; in the Matsya Purana’s ethical frame, rulers and householders are cautioned to celebrate dharmic virtue rather than merely strength or factional pride.
No Vāstu, temple-building, or ritual procedure is specified; the verse is purely narrative, describing attendance and rejoicing at a birth event.
