Matsya Purana — Solar Dynasty Prelude: Vivasvān–Saṃjñā–Chāyā
तस्मात्प्रसादं कुरु मे यद्यनुग्रहभागहम् अपनेष्यामि ते तेजो यन्त्रे कृत्वा दिवाकर //
tasmātprasādaṃ kuru me yadyanugrahabhāgaham apaneṣyāmi te tejo yantre kṛtvā divākara //
Therefore, be gracious to me, if I am indeed worthy of your favor. O Divākara (Sun), I shall draw away your radiance by fixing it within a yantra, a sacred device.
It reflects a crisis-time devotional posture: Manu seeks divine favor and proposes a ritual-technical act (binding/withdrawing “tejas” into a yantra), consistent with Purāṇic themes where cosmic forces are regulated through dharma and sacred means during upheaval.
It models responsible leadership: rather than acting arrogantly, Manu asks for grace and frames his intended action as disciplined, sanctioned, and protective—an ethical ideal for rulers/householders who must manage powerful forces through restraint and reverence.
The key term is “yantra,” implying sacred geometry/instrumentation used to contain or channel power (tejas). This aligns with later Vastu/ritual logic where diagrams and devices regulate energies for protection, consecration, and controlled potency.
