Matsya Purana — Skanda’s Consecration
ददुर्मुदितचेतस्काः स्कन्दायादित्यवर्चसे //
dadurmuditacetaskāḥ skandāyādityavarcase //
With delighted hearts, they made offerings to Skanda, whose radiance is like that of the Sun.
This verse does not discuss Pralaya; it highlights devotional giving—offerings made joyfully to Skanda, praised for sun-like brilliance.
It supports the dharmic ideal of dāna (charitable/reverential giving) performed with a pleased mind—an exemplary householder practice and a kingly virtue when done to uphold worship and sacred institutions.
The ritual takeaway is the emphasis on offering (dāna/arpana) to a deity—Skanda—along with an iconographic cue (sun-like radiance) useful for describing the deity’s splendor in worship or representation.
