Matsya Purana — Saubhagya-Śayana Vow: Lalitā/Gaurī–Śiva Worship

O king, one who seeks to attain lasting fame should, month after month, make gifts of garments, ornaments, and jewelry; thereby, O ruler, he is not deprived of good fortune, health, beauty, and longevity throughout a span of nine hundred million years.
This verse is not about Pralaya; it is a phalaśruti on dāna (charitable gifting), describing long-lasting merit and worldly well-being gained through monthly gifts.
Addressed to a king, it frames regular charity as a royal/householder duty: consistent monthly giving (especially of clothing and adornments) is presented as a dharmic means to secure reputation (kīrti) and sustain prosperity, health, and longevity.
The ritual emphasis is on periodic (monthly) dāna—specifically vastra-dāna and alaṅkāra/bhūṣaṇa-dāna—rather than temple architecture; it highlights a structured charitable practice as part of religious observance.
