Matsya Purana — Saubhagya-Śayana Vow: Lalitā/Gaurī–Śiva Worship
सौभाग्याष्टकसंयुक्तं सुवर्णचरणद्वयम् प्रीयतामत्र ललिता ब्राह्मणाय निवेदयेत् //
saubhāgyāṣṭakasaṃyuktaṃ suvarṇacaraṇadvayam prīyatāmatra lalitā brāhmaṇāya nivedayet //
One should offer to a Brāhmaṇa a pair of golden feet, together with the “Saubhāgya-aṣṭaka” (the eightfold set of auspicious blessings), praying: “May Lalitā be pleased here.”
This verse does not address pralaya; it focuses on ritual donation (dāna) intended to please the goddess Lalitā and secure auspiciousness.
It presents a dharmic household/royal duty: making properly intentioned gifts to qualified Brāhmaṇas as part of vrata and pūjā, aimed at prosperity, social merit, and religious merit.
Ritually, it prescribes a specific votive gift—golden foot-symbols—offered with an auspicious eightfold accompaniment (saubhāgya-aṣṭaka) to please Lalitā, reflecting Purāṇic norms of symbolic offerings and dāna.
