Matsya Purana — Saubhagya-Śayana Vow: Lalitā/Gaurī–Śiva Worship
एवं संवत्सरं यावत् तृतीयायां सदा मनो कर्तव्यं विधिवद्भक्त्या सर्वसौभाग्यमीप्सुभिः //
evaṃ saṃvatsaraṃ yāvat tṛtīyāyāṃ sadā mano kartavyaṃ vidhivadbhaktyā sarvasaubhāgyamīpsubhiḥ //
Thus, for the span of a year, those who seek complete auspicious fortune should continually fix their mind on the observance of the Tritīyā, performing it with proper procedure and devoted faith.
This verse does not address pralaya or cosmology; it focuses on vrata-dharma—maintaining a disciplined devotional observance on Tritīyā for a full year to gain auspicious fortune.
It frames a practical dharmic discipline: a householder (and by extension a king responsible for dharma) should follow prescribed rites (vidhivat) with devotion (bhaktyā) and mental steadiness over time, aiming at saubhāgya—well-being, prosperity, and auspicious stability.
The significance is ritual rather than architectural: it emphasizes tithi-based vrata practice—consistent mental focus and correct procedure over a year-long cycle as the key to the rite’s intended fruit (sarva-saubhāgya).
