Matsya Purana — Rasakalyāṇinī Vrata: Magha-based Goddess Worship
पानकं ज्येष्ठमासे तु आषाढे चाथ जीरकम् श्रावणे वर्जयेत्क्षीरं दधि भाद्रपदे तथा //
pānakaṃ jyeṣṭhamāse tu āṣāḍhe cātha jīrakam śrāvaṇe varjayetkṣīraṃ dadhi bhādrapade tathā //
In the month of Jyeṣṭha one should avoid sweet drinks (pānaka); in Āṣāḍha, cumin (jīraka). In Śrāvaṇa one should abstain from milk, and likewise in Bhādrapada from curd (dadhi).
This verse is not about Pralaya; it gives month-wise dietary restraints, reflecting practical dharma and bodily discipline rather than cosmic dissolution.
It frames self-restraint (niyama) through regulated diet by month—guidance a householder (and a king as exemplar) follows to maintain health, purity, and disciplined living during seasonal transitions, especially the monsoon.
No Vāstu or temple-architecture rule appears here; the ritual takeaway is a vrata-like purity regimen—avoiding specific foods in specific lunar months as part of dharmic observance.
