Matsya Purana — Paurava Genealogy
तस्यां वै धूमवर्णायाम् अजमीढः समीयिवान् ऋक्षं सा जनयामास धूमवर्णं शताग्रजम् //
tasyāṃ vai dhūmavarṇāyām ajamīḍhaḥ samīyivān ṛkṣaṃ sā janayāmāsa dhūmavarṇaṃ śatāgrajam //
With her—Dhūmavarṇā—Ajamiḍha united; and she gave birth to Ṛkṣa, Dhūmavarṇa, and Śatāgraja.
This verse does not describe Pralaya; it records dynastic continuity through childbirth, emphasizing lineage preservation rather than cosmic dissolution.
In the Purāṇic framework, producing heirs and maintaining an orderly succession is part of rājadharma and gṛhastha-dharma; the verse supports the ideal of safeguarding lineage and social stability through legitimate progeny.
No Vāstu, temple iconography, or ritual procedure is mentioned in this verse; its focus is purely genealogical (vamśānucarita).
