Matsya Purana — Origins of Gods and Beings: Daksha’s Progeny
विश्वे देवास्तु विश्वायाः साध्या साध्यानजीजनत् मरुत्वत्यां मरुत्वन्तो वसोस् तु वसवस्तथा //
viśve devāstu viśvāyāḥ sādhyā sādhyānajījanat marutvatyāṃ marutvanto vasos tu vasavastathā //
From Viśvā were born the Viśvedevas; from Sādhyā were brought forth the Sādhyas. From Marutvatī came the Maruts, and from Vasū likewise arose the Vasus.
This verse is a sarga (creation) detail: it lists the birth-origins of specific divine groups (Viśvedevas, Sādhyas, Maruts, Vasus) from their respective मातृ-देवताः (maternal progenitors), rather than describing pralaya.
Indirectly, it supports dharma through cosmological order: knowing the divine classes and their lineages frames ritual propriety (which deities are invoked in offerings), helping householders and rulers perform sanctioned rites aligned with Purāṇic tradition.
Ritually, these deva-groups are commonly invoked in Vedic-Purāṇic ceremonies (offerings to classes like the Viśvedevas and Vasus). The verse itself does not give Vāstu rules, but it informs which deity-groups may be propitiated in consecrations and homa contexts.
