Matsya Purana — Navagraha Sacrifice for Planetary Pacification and Prosperity
एवं सम्पूजयेद्भक्त्या वित्तशाठ्येन वर्जितः रत्नकाञ्चनवस्त्रौघैर् धूपमाल्यानुलेपनैः //
evaṃ sampūjayedbhaktyā vittaśāṭhyena varjitaḥ ratnakāñcanavastraughair dhūpamālyānulepanaiḥ //
Thus one should worship the deity with devotion, free from deceit concerning one’s wealth, offering abundant gems, gold, and heaps of garments, together with incense, garlands, and unguents.
This verse does not discuss pralaya; it focuses on correct devotional worship, stressing sincerity and proper ritual offerings.
It instructs householders (and rulers as exemplars) to worship and give without financial deceit—i.e., not pretending poverty or manipulating wealth when performing religious duties and offerings.
Ritually, it lists standard upacāras (offerings) used in temple/home worship—incense (dhūpa), garlands (mālya), and anointing pastes (anulepana)—and emphasizes abundant yet honest material offerings.
