Matsya Purana — Navagraha Sacrifice for Planetary Pacification and Prosperity
यथा भूमिप्रदानस्य कलां नार्हन्ति षोडशीम् दानान्यन्यानि मे शान्तिर् भूमिदानाद्भवत्विह //
yathā bhūmipradānasya kalāṃ nārhanti ṣoḍaśīm dānānyanyāni me śāntir bhūmidānādbhavatviha //
Just as other gifts do not merit even a sixteenth part of the merit of giving land, so may my peace (appeasement) arise here through the donation of land.
This verse does not discuss Pralaya; it teaches Dāna-dharma by ranking land-gift as superior and as a means to attain śānti (appeasement/peace).
It frames bhūmi-dāna as an exceptionally meritorious act—especially relevant to kings (who can grant land) and householders (who support livelihoods)—and presents it as a dharmic means to secure peace and well-being.
Indirectly ritual: land-gift supports sacred and social institutions (temples, āśramas, agriculture), and is treated as a high-grade śānti-karman (appeasement act), even though no specific Vāstu rule is stated in this verse.
