Matsya Purana — Navagraha Sacrifice for Planetary Pacification and Prosperity
न कुर्याद्दक्षिणाहीनं वित्तशाठ्येन मानवः अददल्लोभतो मोहात् कुलक्षयम् अवाप्नुते //
na kuryāddakṣiṇāhīnaṃ vittaśāṭhyena mānavaḥ adadallobhato mohāt kulakṣayam avāpnute //
A man should not perform a rite devoid of the prescribed fee (dakṣiṇā) out of deceit regarding wealth. One who does not give—through greed and delusion—incurs the ruin of his family line.
This verse is not about Pralaya; it teaches ethical causality in dharma—how greed-driven refusal to give (dakṣiṇā/dāna) brings social and familial decline.
It frames giving dakṣiṇā and honest support of rites as a core householder duty; for rulers too, it implies sustaining priests, rituals, and public dharma through proper, non-deceptive patronage.
Ritually, it mandates that sacrifices/ceremonies should not be performed while withholding the prescribed dakṣiṇā; the emphasis is on correct ritual completion through proper gifts, not on Vastu or temple architecture.
