Matsya Purana — Mahāgaurī’s Entry
संचिन्त्यैवमुवाचेदं वीरकं प्रति शैलजा लज्जासज्जविकारेण वदनेनाम्बुजत्विषा //
saṃcintyaivamuvācedaṃ vīrakaṃ prati śailajā lajjāsajjavikāreṇa vadanenāmbujatviṣā //
Having reflected thus, Śailajā (the Mountain-born goddess) spoke these words to Vīraka—her lotus-bright face showing the tender change that comes with bashful modesty.
This verse does not discuss pralaya or cosmology; it is a narrative moment describing Śailajā’s reflective pause and her modest, lotus-radiant expression as she addresses Vīraka.
Indirectly, it highlights the Purāṇic ideal of thoughtful speech (saṃcintya) and restrained emotion—qualities valued in ethical conduct, though no explicit rājadharma or gṛhastha-dharma instruction appears in this line.
No Vāstu, temple-building, iconography, or ritual procedure is referenced; the verse functions as poetic characterization (lotus-like radiance, modest demeanor) within a dialogue scene.
