Matsya Purana — Lineage of the Pitṛs
मायापुर्यां कुमारी तु संताने ललिता तथा उत्पलाक्षी सहस्राक्षे कमलाक्षे महोत्पला //
māyāpuryāṃ kumārī tu saṃtāne lalitā tathā utpalākṣī sahasrākṣe kamalākṣe mahotpalā //
In Māyāpurī she is known as Kumārī; in Saṃtāna as Lalitā; in Sahasrākṣa as Utpalākṣī; and in Kamalākṣa as Mahotpalā.
It does not discuss Pralaya; it is a kṣetra-based naming verse that maps the Goddess’s epithets to specific sacred places.
Indirectly, it supports dharma through tīrtha-yātrā and devotion: a king or householder is encouraged to honor regional forms of the Goddess and uphold temple and pilgrimage traditions.
The verse implies ritual localization—specific shrines/kshetras where the Goddess is worshiped under distinct names—useful for temple identification, icon labeling, and kshetra-specific pūjā recitations.
