Matsya Purana — Kārtavīrya Arjuna’s Solar Boon and the Genealogy from Kroṣṭu to the Yādava Lines
सुतन्तू राष्ट्रपाली च कङ्का चेति वराङ्गनाः उग्रसेनः सहापत्यो व्याख्यातः कुकुरोद्भवः //
sutantū rāṣṭrapālī ca kaṅkā ceti varāṅganāḥ ugrasenaḥ sahāpatyo vyākhyātaḥ kukurodbhavaḥ //
The noble women were Sutantū, Rāṣṭrapālī, and Kaṅkā. And Ugrasena—together with his offspring—has been described as born in the lineage of Kukura.
This verse does not discuss Pralaya; it is a genealogical note listing names and affirming Ugrasena’s descent from the Kukura branch of the Yadava line.
Indirectly, it supports the Purana’s emphasis on legitimate lineage and succession—key for royal duty (rajadharma) such as orderly inheritance, protection of subjects, and continuity of the realm.
No Vastu or ritual procedure is stated here; the verse functions as a dynastic record rather than a temple-building or rite-prescription passage.
