Matsya Purana — Kailasa
तस्मात्प्रभवते पुण्या नदी शैलोदका शुभा सा चक्षुसी तयोर्मध्ये प्रविष्टा पश्चिमोदधिम् //
tasmātprabhavate puṇyā nadī śailodakā śubhā sā cakṣusī tayormadhye praviṣṭā paścimodadhim //
From there arises the auspicious and meritorious river Śailodakā. Flowing between the two Cakṣuṣī, she enters the western ocean.
It does not describe Pralaya; it belongs to sacred geography, identifying a holy river’s origin and its course to the western ocean.
Indirectly, it supports dharma through tīrtha-oriented living: knowing and honoring sacred rivers is tied to pilgrimage, bathing rites, and merit (puṇya) pursued by householders and patronized by kings.
Ritually, it highlights a meritorious river suitable for snāna (sacred bathing) and tīrtha practices; no explicit Vāstu or temple-building rule is stated in this verse.
