Matsya Purana — Inquiry into Taraka’s Slaying and the Prelude to Guha
*ब्रह्मोवाच तपस्त्वं क्रूरमापन्नो ह्य् अस्मच्छासनसंस्थितः अनया चित्तशुद्ध्या ते पर्याप्तं जन्मनः फलम् //
*brahmovāca tapastvaṃ krūramāpanno hy asmacchāsanasaṃsthitaḥ anayā cittaśuddhyā te paryāptaṃ janmanaḥ phalam //
Brahmā said: “You have undertaken a severe austerity, firmly abiding by my injunction. Through this purification of your mind, the fruit of your birth has been fully accomplished.”
This verse does not describe Pralaya directly; it emphasizes inner purification (citta-śuddhi) through tapas as the culminating purpose of one’s embodied life.
It frames duty as disciplined obedience to rightful injunctions and self-control: whether king or householder, one’s life is ‘fulfilled’ when conduct purifies the mind rather than merely producing external achievements.
No specific Vāstu or iconographic rule appears here; the ritual takeaway is that austerity and observance are validated primarily by the resulting citta-śuddhi (inner purity).
