Matsya Purana — Hiranyakashipu’s Boons
अन्तःसलिलसंयुक्तां विहितां विश्वकर्मणा दिव्यरत्नमयैर्वृक्षैः फलपुष्पप्रदैर्युताम् //
antaḥsalilasaṃyuktāṃ vihitāṃ viśvakarmaṇā divyaratnamayairvṛkṣaiḥ phalapuṣpapradairyutām //
Fashioned by Viśvakarman, it was provided with inner water-channels (or pools) and adorned with divine jewel-like trees, bearing and bestowing fruits and blossoms.
This verse is not about Pralaya; it describes divine construction—an ideal, auspicious built environment with integrated water and abundance-bearing trees.
It reflects the ideal of welfare-oriented planning: providing water infrastructure and fertile, life-supporting groves—an implicit model for a king’s civic works and a householder’s auspicious, life-sustaining homestead.
The key Vāstu cue is “inner water” (tanks/channels) within the complex, paired with auspicious gardens; such features signify prosperity, cooling, purity, and ritual readiness in Puranic sacred architecture.
