Matsya Purana — Genealogy of the Śūra–Vasudeva
tantipālaśca tantiśca nandanasya sutāv ubhau śamīkaputrāś catvāro vikrāntāḥ sumahābalāḥ virājaśca dhanuścaiva śyāmaśca sṛñjayastathā //
Tantipāla and Tanti—both were the two sons of Nandana. And the four sons of Śamīka, valiant and of great might, were Virāja, Dhanu, Śyāma, and likewise Sṛñjaya.
This verse is not about Pralaya; it is a genealogical register naming descendants (sons) within a royal lineage, a common feature of the Matsya Purana’s vamsha sections.
Indirectly, it supports the Purana’s model of dharmic continuity: by preserving lineage memory, it legitimizes succession and the transmission of rājadharma through named dynasties rather than giving a direct ethical injunction.
No Vastu, temple-building, or ritual procedure is stated here; the verse functions purely as a dynastic naming passage.
