Matsya Purana — Genealogy of the Śūra–Vasudeva
सप्तमं देवकीपुत्रं मदनं सुषुवे नृप गवेषणं महाभागं संग्रामेष्वपराजितम् //
saptamaṃ devakīputraṃ madanaṃ suṣuve nṛpa gaveṣaṇaṃ mahābhāgaṃ saṃgrāmeṣvaparājitam //
O King, as her seventh son Devakī bore Madana—Gaveṣaṇa—noble-souled and unconquered in battles.
This verse is genealogical and does not describe Pralaya; it highlights lineage and warrior excellence rather than cosmic dissolution.
By praising an “unconquered in battle” prince, the verse reflects the Kṣatriya ideal: protecting subjects, upholding order, and embodying courage—key royal duties emphasized across Purāṇic ethics.
No Vāstu, temple-building, or ritual procedure is stated here; the focus is on progeny and martial reputation within a dynasty narrative.
