Matsya Purana — Genealogy of the Śūra–Vasudeva
अवगाहो महात्मा च वृकदेव्यामजायत वृकदेव्यां स्वयं जज्ञे नन्दको नाम नामतः //
avagāho mahātmā ca vṛkadevyāmajāyata vṛkadevyāṃ svayaṃ jajñe nandako nāma nāmataḥ //
And the great-souled Avagāha was born of Vṛkadevī; from Vṛkadevī herself there was born a son—Nandaka by name.
This verse does not discuss Pralaya; it is a genealogical notice recording births within a lineage, emphasizing continuity of dynasties rather than cosmic dissolution.
Indirectly, it supports the Purāṇic ideal of dharmic continuity: preserving lineage through righteous progeny is a recurring householder and royal concern in the Matsya Purana’s dynastic narratives.
No Vāstu, temple-building, iconography, or ritual procedure is stated here; the verse functions purely as a lineage record (name-and-birth statement).
