Matsya Purana — Genealogy of the Śūra–Vasudeva
विजयं रोचमानं च वर्धमानं तु देवलम् एते सर्वे महात्मानो ह्य् उपदेव्यां प्रजज्ञिरे //
vijayaṃ rocamānaṃ ca vardhamānaṃ tu devalam ete sarve mahātmāno hy upadevyāṃ prajajñire //
Vijaya, Rochamāna, Vardhamāna, and Devala—these all were great-souled ones, indeed, born of Upadevā.
This verse does not discuss Pralaya; it is a genealogical notice recording the birth of notable figures from Upadevā.
Indirectly, it supports the Purana’s emphasis on dynastic continuity: righteous household life and legitimate lineage are treated as pillars for stable kingship and social order.
No Vastu, temple-building, or ritual procedure is mentioned in this verse; its focus is purely on lineage and birth-recording.
