Matsya Purana — Description of Atri’s Hermitage: Sacred Grove Planning
पीतयूथिकया चैव श्वेतयूथिकया तथा जात्या चम्पकजात्या च तुम्बरैश्चाप्यतुम्बरैः //
pītayūthikayā caiva śvetayūthikayā tathā jātyā campakajātyā ca tumbaraiścāpyatumbaraiḥ //
—with yellow yūthikā (jasmine) as well as white yūthikā; with jāti (jasmine) and campaka-jāti (champaka-like jasmine); and also with tumbara flowers and atumbara flowers.
This verse does not address pralaya; it is a practical ritual list specifying acceptable flowers for worship/offerings.
It supports the householder/royal duty of maintaining proper worship by prescribing pure, auspicious floral offerings—an aspect of daily dharma and temple patronage.
Ritually, it enumerates specific fragrant flowers (varieties of jasmine and related blooms) suitable for pūjā, indicating standardized offering materials used in temple practice.
