Matsya Purana — Agastya’s Origin
अप्सरा इति सामान्या देवानामब्रवीद्धरिः उर्वशीति च नाम्नेयं लोके ख्यातिं गमिष्यति //
apsarā iti sāmānyā devānāmabravīddhariḥ urvaśīti ca nāmneyaṃ loke khyātiṃ gamiṣyati //
Hari said to the gods: “In general she is called an apsaras; and by the name Urvaśī, this one will attain fame in the world.”
This verse does not discuss pralaya; it focuses on a deva-loka naming motif—how a celestial nymph is designated and becomes renowned as Urvaśī.
Indirectly, it highlights the Purāṇic theme that name (nāma) and reputation (khyāti) shape worldly memory—an ethical reminder that a king or householder should cultivate honorable fame through right conduct.
No Vāstu, temple-building, or ritual procedure is stated in this verse; it is a narrative line about classification (apsaras) and the specific name Urvaśī.
