Chapter 58: Arjuna’s Deployment of the Indra-Weapon
अग्निचक्रोपमं घोरं व्यकर्षत् परमायुधम् । व्यशातयच्छरांस्तांस्तु द्रोग: समितिशोभन:,आचार्य द्रोण संग्रामभूमिमें बड़ी शोभा पानेवाले थे। संग्राममें उन्होंने अपने रथको जब अर्जुनके बाणोंसे ढका हुआ देखा, तब मेघगर्जनाके समान गम्भीर नाद करनेवाले अग्निचक्रके सदृश भयंकर परम उत्तम आयुधश्रेष्ठ धनुषकी टंकार फैलाते हुए उसे (कानोंतक) खींचा और अपने शर-समूहोंसे अर्जुके उन सब बाणोंको काट डाला
agnicakropamaṃ ghoraṃ vyakarṣat paramāyudham | vyaśātayaccharāṃstāṃstu droṇaḥ samitiśobhanaḥ ||
Vaiśampāyana said: Droṇa, splendid in the press of battle, drew to the ear his supreme weapon—terrible like a blazing wheel of fire—and with his volleys he cut down all those arrows that had covered his chariot. The scene shows disciplined arms at work: even when hemmed in by an opponent’s shafts, the seasoned teacher-warrior answers with controlled force, turning skill into protection and renewed offense.
