Chapter 58: Arjuna’s Deployment of the Indra-Weapon
महानभूत् ततः शब्दो वंशानामिव दहाुताम्,उस समय जलते हुए बाँसोंके चटखनेका-सा बड़ा भयंकर शब्द हो रहा था
mahān abhūt tataḥ śabdo vaṃśānām iva dahyatām
Vaiśampāyana said: Then there arose a great, dreadful sound—like the cracking of bamboo-stalks as they burn—signaling a sudden, violent turn in events and heightening the sense of imminent danger.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse uses vivid sensory imagery to mark a decisive escalation: when disorder and danger surge, one should recognize the signs of impending conflict and respond with alertness and steadiness rather than confusion.
The narrator reports that a terrifying, booming sound suddenly arises, compared to the sharp cracking of bamboo as it burns—an auditory cue that the situation has become intense and perilous.
