Chapter 58: Arjuna’s Deployment of the Indra-Weapon
दृष्टवा तु पार्थस्य रणे शरै: स्वरथमावृतम् । स विस्फार्य धनु: श्रेष्ठ मेघस्तनितनि:स्वनम्,आचार्य द्रोण संग्रामभूमिमें बड़ी शोभा पानेवाले थे। संग्राममें उन्होंने अपने रथको जब अर्जुनके बाणोंसे ढका हुआ देखा, तब मेघगर्जनाके समान गम्भीर नाद करनेवाले अग्निचक्रके सदृश भयंकर परम उत्तम आयुधश्रेष्ठ धनुषकी टंकार फैलाते हुए उसे (कानोंतक) खींचा और अपने शर-समूहोंसे अर्जुके उन सब बाणोंको काट डाला
dṛṣṭvā tu pārthasya raṇe śaraiḥ sva-ratham āvṛtam | sa visphārya dhanuḥ śreṣṭhaṃ megha-stanita-niḥsvanam ||
Vaiśampāyana said: Seeing on the battlefield his own chariot covered by Pārtha’s arrows, Droṇa—splendid in the fight—twanged his excellent bow with a sound deep as thunderclouds. Drawing it back to the ear, he cut down Arjuna’s entire shower of arrows with his own volleys, revealing the disciplined mastery of a teacher-warrior amid the demands of war.
