Agastya’s Encounter with Ilvala and Vātāpi; Dāna, Progeny, and the Renown of Agastya-Āśrama

राजन निवेशे बुद्धिमें वर्तते पुत्रकारणात्‌ । वरये त्वां महीपाल लोपामुद्रां प्रयच्छ मे,“राजन! पुत्रोत्पत्तिके लिये मेरा विवाह करनेका विचार है। अतः महीपाल! मैं आपकी कन्याका वरण करता हूँ। आप लोपामुद्राको मुझे दे दीजिये”

rājan niveśe buddhir me vartate putrakāraṇāt | varaye tvāṁ mahīpāla lopāmudrāṁ prayaccha me ||

“O King, my resolve is set upon entering household life for the sake of begetting a son. Therefore, O ruler of the earth, I choose your daughter Lopāmudrā as my bride; grant her to me.”
