Nala’s Reception and Reconciliation
svarūpiṇaṃ tu bhartāraṃ dṛṣṭvā bhīmasutā tadā | prākrośad uccair āliṅgya puṇyaślokam aninditā ||
Then Bhīma’s daughter (Damayantī), seeing her husband revealed in his true form, embraced the blameless King Nala—renowned for righteous fame—and cried aloud.
The verse highlights the ethical force of steadfast virtue and fidelity: when truth is restored (Nala’s true form), rightful relationships and honor re-emerge, and sincere emotion becomes a natural, dharmic response rather than weakness.
Damayantī recognizes Nala in his true form, embraces him, and weeps loudly—signaling their reunion after separation and hardship, and affirming Nala’s identity as the ‘puṇyaśloka’ king of virtuous renown.
