Educational Q&A

The verse highlights rājadharma: a ruler’s legitimacy is shown by proper protection of subjects and the subduing of hostile forces, and it models humility and respectful approach when seeking counsel from a revered person.

In Bṛhadaśva’s narration, a young woman identifies herself as the daughter of the powerful protector of Vidarbha and approaches a venerable figure, presenting herself in attendance to seek help or guidance.
