वैशम्पायन उवाच अथैनमब्रवीद्‌ राजा ब्रवीतु भगवानिति | इमामवस्थां सम्प्राप्तं श्रोतुमिच्छामि पार्थिवम्‌,वैशम्पायनजी कहते हैं--जनमेजय! तब राजा युधिष्ठिरने मुनिसे कहा--“भगवन्‌! अवश्य कहिये। जो मेरी-जैसी संकटपूर्ण स्थितिमें पहुँचा हुआ हो, उस राजाका चरित्र मैं सुनना चाहता हूँ

Transliteration

vaiśampāyana uvāca athainam abravīd rājā bravītu bhagavān iti | imām avasthāṃ samprāptaṃ śrotum icchāmi pārthivam ||

Translation

Vaiśampāyana said: Then the king addressed him, saying, “Let the venerable one speak. I wish to hear of that ruler who has fallen into a plight like this.”
