Mātali’s Arrival and Arjuna’s Ascent toward Amarāvatī (मातलिसंयुक्तरथागमनम् तथा इन्द्रलोकगमनारम्भः)
राजर्षयश्व बहवो दिलीपप्रमुखा नृपा: । तुम्बुरुनरिदश्चैव गन्धर्वो च हहाहुहू:,वहाँ साध्य, विश्वेदेव, मरुद्गण, अश्विनीकुमार, आदित्य, वसु, रुद्र तथा विशुद्ध ब्रह्मर्षिणण और अनेक राजर्षिगण एवं दिलीप आदि बहुत-से राजा, तुम्बुरु, नारद, हाहा, हूहू आदि गन्धर्वगण विराजमान थे
vaiśampāyana uvāca |
rājarṣayaś ca bahavo dilīpapramukhā nṛpāḥ |
tumburur nāradaś caiva gandharvo ca hahāhuhūḥ ||
Vaiśampāyana said: Many royal seers were present there, and many kings headed by Dilīpa. Tumburu and Nārada were also there, as well as the Gandharvas Hahā and Huhū.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
By placing rājarṣis, exemplary kings, and revered celestial figures as witnesses, the verse frames the forthcoming events within a moral universe: righteous conduct (dharma) is not merely personal but publicly accountable before sages and divine beings.
Vaiśampāyana lists the distinguished attendees of an august gathering—royal sages and kings led by Dilīpa, along with celestial musicians and sages such as Tumburu and Nārada, including the Gandharvas Hahā and Huhū—establishing the grandeur and sanctity of the assembly.
