अध्याय ३३ — कर्म, दैव, हठ, स्वभाव और पुरुषार्थ पर द्रौपदी का उपदेश
Draupadī on Action, Fate, and Human Effort
वाचयित्वा द्विजश्रेष्ठानद्यव गजसाह्दयम् । अस्त्रविद्धि: परिवृतो भ्रातृभिर्दृढ्धन्विभि:,“जैसे सर्पोके समान भयंकर शूरवीर देवताओंसे घिरे हुए वृत्रनाशक इन्द्र असुरोंपर आक्रमण करते हैं, उसी प्रकार अस्त्र-विद्याके ज्ञाता और सुदृढ़ धनुष धारण करनेवाले हम सब भाइयोंसे घिरे हुए आप श्रेष्ठ ब्राह्मणोंसे स्वस्तिवाचन कराकर आज ही हस्तिनापुरपर चढ़ाई कीजिये। महाबली कुन्तीकुमार! जैसे इन्द्र अपने तेजसे दैत्योंको मिट्टीमें मिला देते हैं, उसी प्रकार आप अपने प्रभावसे शत्रुओंको मिट्टीमें मिलाकर धृतराष्ट्रपुत्र दुर्योधनसे अपनी राजलक्ष्मीको ले लीजिये
vācayitvā dvijaśreṣṭhān adyaiva gajasāhdayam | astravid dhiḥ parivṛto bhrātṛbhir dṛḍhadhanvibhiḥ ||
Vaiśampāyana said: “Having the foremost Brahmins recite auspicious benedictions, march today itself against Hastināpura. Surrounded by us brothers—masters of weapons and bearers of firm bows—advance like Indra, the slayer of Vṛtra, who, encircled by the gods, strikes terror into the hosts of the Asuras. O mighty son of Kuntī, as Indra grinds the Daityas into dust by his splendor, so should you, by your own power, crush your enemies and reclaim your royal fortune from Duryodhana, the son of Dhṛtarāṣṭra.”
वैशम्पायन उवाच
