अवेक्षया महाराज तव गाण्डीवधन्वचना । धर्मानुगतया बुद्धया न किज्चित् साहसं कृतम्,“महाराज! गाण्डीव धनुष धारण करनेवाले अर्जुनने आपके आदेशकी प्रतीक्षा तथा अपनी धर्मानुगामिनी बुद्धिके कारण ही अबतक कोई साहसका कार्य नहीं किया है
avekṣayā mahārāja tava gāṇḍīvadhanvācana | dharmānugatāyā buddhyā na kiñcit sāhasaṁ kṛtam ||
Vaiśaṃpāyana said: “O great king, because he was waiting for your command, and because his judgment follows the path of dharma, Arjuna—the wielder of the Gāṇḍīva—has so far undertaken no rash or reckless deed.”
वैशम्पायन उवाच
Even a powerful warrior should restrain impulsive action; dharma-guided judgment and respect for rightful command prevent reckless deeds.
The narrator explains to the king that Arjuna has not acted rashly because he is awaiting the king’s instruction and is guided by a dharmic sense of right conduct.
