Draupadī’s Rebuke of Jayadratha and Dhaumya’s Admonition (Āraṇyaka-parva, Adhyāya 252)

satkṛtasya hi te śoko viparīte kathaṁ bhavet | mā kṛtaṁ śobhanaṁ pārthaḥ śokam ālambya nāśaya ||

Vaiśampāyana said: “If you have been honoured, how can grief rightly arise in you? Had the opposite happened—had they treated you with contempt—what would your condition have been then? Do not, by clinging to sorrow, ruin the good and fitting conduct shown by the son of Kuntī (the Pāṇḍava).”
