देवानां दानवानां च मांसशोणितकर्दमम्‌ | अनयो देवलोकस्य सहसैवाभ्यदृश्यत

devānāṁ dānavānāṁ ca māṁsaśoṇitakardamam | anayo devalokasya sahasaivābhyadṛśyata ||

Mārkaṇḍeya said: “At once there appeared a mire of flesh and blood, belonging alike to the gods and the Dānavas—an appalling omen of the violence that had burst forth, staining even the realm of the gods.”
