एवमन्योन्यसंयुक्त युद्धमासीत् सुदारुणम्,तथा हि दानवा घोरा विनिध्नन्ति दिवौकस: । इस प्रकार देवताओं और दानवोंमें परस्पर अत्यन्त भयंकर युद्ध हो रहा था। रक्त और मांससे वहाँकी भूमिपर कीचड़ जम गयी थी। फिर सहसा बाजी पलट गयी। देवलोककी पराजय दिखायी देने लगी। भयंकर दानव देवताओंको मारने लगे
Transliteration
evam anyonya-saṁyuktaṁ yuddham āsīt sudāruṇam, tathā hi dānavā ghorā vinighnanti divaukasaḥ |
Translation
Mārkaṇḍeya said: “Thus, locked together in mutual combat, a most dreadful battle raged. Indeed, the fearsome Dānavas were striking down the dwellers of heaven. The tide of war suddenly turned; defeat began to appear for the gods, as the terrible demons continued to slay them.”
