Mārkaṇḍeya said: That mountain was crowded with rākṣasīs, and with many kinds of beasts and birds. Wondrous seven‑headed serpents—whose very gaze was laden with poison—stood guard over the mountain. Besides them, it teemed with rākṣasas, piśācas, terrifying hosts of spirits, bands of rākṣasīs, and diverse animals and birds. The scene underscores how peril can be woven into the very landscape, warning that one must approach the unknown with restraint, vigilance, and discernment rather than rashness.
