Mārkaṇḍeya said: “Within a vast, crimson cloud, he shone like the newly risen sun. On the fourth day, the youthful Skanda became fully formed, complete in every limb and subsidiary feature. At that time the boy was veiled by immense, lightning-laden red clouds; therefore he blazed forth like the sun emerging from the heart of a great mass of ruddy rain-clouds.”

Educational Q&A

The verse highlights the idea that divine power manifests with unmistakable radiance and completeness: Skanda becomes fully formed and shines forth despite being veiled by storm-clouds, suggesting that true spiritual or heroic potency cannot be obscured and appears as an auspicious sign for the world.

Mārkaṇḍeya describes the youthful Skanda on the fourth day as fully developed in all limbs, surrounded by vast red, lightning-filled clouds, and compares his brilliance to the sun rising from within a dense mass of ruddy clouds.
