मातापितृपूजन-प्रधानधर्मः (Primacy of Filial Service) — Mārkaṇḍeya’s Account of the Vyādha’s Instruction
नाम्ना च गुणसंयुक्तस्तदाप्रभूृति सो5भवत् | एतत् ते सर्वमाख्यातं यन्मां त्वं परिपृच्छसि
nāmnā ca guṇasaṃyuktaḥ tadāprabhṛti so 'bhavat | etat te sarvam ākhyātaṃ yan māṃ tvaṃ paripṛcchasi ||
Mārkaṇḍeya said: “And he became one whose very name was joined with his qualities from that time onward. Thus I have told you everything you asked me about.”

A person’s true identity is validated when name and character align; virtue (guṇa) should substantiate reputation. The verse also models the ethical closure of instruction: the teacher completes the account faithfully in response to sincere inquiry.
Mārkaṇḍeya concludes his explanation, stating that from a certain point the person in question came to be known by a name reflecting his qualities, and that he has now fully answered the listener’s questions.
